Clubs stepped to the front of citizen science as students joined the national
Aussie Bird Count last week. Student observations joined with over six million other observations of birds throughout the country.
There were lots of favourite birds that populated our bird count lists. The butcherbirds and warbling magpies as well as a tawny frogmouth and even a king parrot proved highlights. Everyone enjoyed the opportunity to spend their lunch break as scientists.
While lots of students joined the survey at the Rosanna Parklands, there was lots of excitement over the annual return of a tawny frogmouth. Nesting in the ironbark tree, outside Chandler Hall, it caused great excitement. We are looking forward to what might emerge over the coming days.
