Our 2026 ParentED program commenced with its first termly gathering on Wednesday 25 March, welcoming parents and carers. Designed as a collaborative space, ParentED provides families with the opportunity to connect, share experiences, and learn from expert practitioners on topics that matter most.
The inaugural session centred on supporting children’s emotional regulation—an increasingly important area in fostering wellbeing and resilience. The session was led by Joan Lauricella, a highly experienced Family Support Worker from healthAbility, who brought both professional expertise and practical insights to the discussion.
Throughout the hour-long presentation, Joan explored evidence-based emotion coaching strategies and highlighted positive parenting approaches that can strengthen children’s emotional understanding and intelligence. A key theme of the evening was the importance of empathy and emotional awareness as the foundation for effective problem-solving and healthy emotional development.
We thank all parents and carers who attended and contributed to the success of this session. We look forward to continuing these important conversations in Term 2, when the program will turn its focus to cybersafety.
